From the Manufacturer
With spring-assisted technology, the Gerber Fast Draw Knife deploys quickly and easily with one hand. This fine edge knife can be triggered using the thumb stub or with a sudden release of the index finger. The Fast Draw features a high carbon surgical stainless steel blade and tactile texturing on nylon handle. The blade measures 2.99 inches in length. A sturdy pocket clip keeps it close at hand. This knife comes with Gerber's limited lifetime warranty. From the Manufacturer, Gerber Legendary Blades is proud beyond description to introduce our first spring-assisted knife. The FAST Draw relies on our proprietary new blade opening concept--Forward Action Spring Technology--that's so lightning-quick, so pleasingly easy to open with just one hand, it's already drawing a lot of attention among knife folks everywhere. The mechanism was created exclusively of us and patented by Qregon knife make Butch Vallotton. Should you choose, you can open the FAST Draw in the traditional way, using the thumb stud. Or, if speed is the order of the day, you can simply trigger the blade's sudden release with your index finger. It's an exciting concept that certainly belongs in your collection.

By Remodeling in SoCal
The pros;
.open assist is fast and works well
.weight
.clip is in a good position at the end , tip up
.price
.easy carry for use as an EDC knife, very compact
cons;
.steel is way too soft and blade is too thick of a grind for this small of a knife, the serrated grind is also has too deep of a cut pattern for my liking
.constant dulling in use. No mention of steel type either, my guess 440c, or AUS6. My Fire/ Rescue Gerber has a better steel quality, but that was made in the USA, this is Taiwan.
. grip needs more roughness,slippery when wet, [you can do some changes yourself there]
. for my hand it is too small of a handle for medium to heavy EDC utility use
If the steel was better it would be an acceptable knife. If you buy it and like a really sharp knife that will stay that way in reasonable use do not buy this. Kershaw Leek,Blur, SOG Trident, have AUS8, much better steel. My Leatherman New Wave has CM154 and is excellent in edge hold and sharpness, that is a great steel choice also, hardly ever sharpen those blades.

By Amanda
Out of the box the knife is sharp. its a nice knife but when new its a bit hard to get out for the asset to take over. I will chime in again when I brake it in. I would like to see a bit stronger spring and the blade not go in the handle as far as it does, that would make it a lot easier on the thumb to get the blade moving.

By Michael
Nice knife for casual carry. Opens like a switchblade, but is legal(I think).
The picture shows a serrated version, but this part number is the fine blade one.
